Hetampur Fort

The fort of Hetampur, situated at a distance of about 25 km from the district headquarters, is also 25 km from the national highway. Shershah Shuri's grantee Hetam Khan had built this fort in the 16th century spread over 3 acres. The fort was made of Lahori brick and Chunar sandstone and is currently taken under its protection by the Department of Archaeology. According to legends, while preparing the wall of the fort, the wall was falling down again and again. Grantee Hetam Khan contacted the scholar Brahmin, he told that the fort wall will be completed only if a Brahmin is sacrificed there. Hetam Khan sacrificed the same Brahmin. At the same spot, the place of Brahma Baba is still present inside the fort in which worship is done by the local people. There is a tunnel inside the fort. It is said that a procession was lost in this tunnel long ago, whose authenticity has not been proven yet.
