Maati Village (Gaon) of Chandauli district came to light when the Archaeological Department of Banaras Hindu University claimed in 2020 that there is a sign of around 2000 years old human civilization below the soil of this village. Later, the excavation work was done in 2022 by the team who found the structures which were enough to justify the claim. There was a circular structure seeming to be the sanctum-sanctorum of any temple and also a structure along like a temple premise. The team is still working on it.
