Sarai Balua Ghat's distance from the district headquarters is about 24 km. The river Ganga flows in the west direction on Balua Ghat, due to which it is known as ‘Paschim Vahini’ in the whole country. Millions of people take dips in the river Ganga on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. A big fair is also held here in which people come from far and wide. Wooden mortar, grinding stone, traditional flour grinder, flail, cot, funnel cake (jalebi), fans made of bamboo, wooden baskets, wooden toys, shovel, etc. are sold in abundance at the fair. There is also a special program held on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra. Also, there is a tradition of taking a dip in the holy river and donating to the poor after that. On the occasion of Dev Deepawali, along with lighting lamps, cultural programs are also held here, which are attended by the legislators, ministers, and other administration officials. Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti is also celebrated here. It is said that there was an ashram of Maharishi Valmiki where he used to worship after taking water from Maa Ganga. There are facilities of changing rooms, teen sheds for sitting, toilets, hand pumps, etc. Tourists come to the place for boating, Ganga bath, and worship. All kinds of tourists come here. Most of the tourists visit here only during the day-time. Very few people stay here at the night, those who do stay in Dharamshala. Apart from their own resources, passengers come here by bus, tempo, and other vehicles.
Situated at an elevation of around 230 feet, Chandauli is a district under the state of Uttar Pradesh.
